This Virgo Season we’ll be slowly piecing ourselves back together after the past few months dragged us (literally and figuratively) through a Mercury retrograde, an intense New Moon in Cancer, Chiron moving into Taurus (and then having the audacity to also station retrograde?!), a Saturn and Neptune retrograde (that we’re currently still in), and to top it all off, an Eclipse season.
You may have entered September feeling scattered, burnt out, or maybe even a bit unclear about your next move. With so many things in flux or ending, you could be looking into the future thinking: “What’s next?”
As much as you may feel tempted, now is not the time to start taking on random tasks just to feel something. Feel your feelings! How about that? Trying to be everything to everyone right now is a guaranteed path to burnt out and resentment. Instead, consider the things (or people) that truly deserve your effort and carve out quality time to spend with them. As for everyone else, learn to say, “Can I get back to you on that?” “Do it yourself.” or better yet, “No.”
This Virgo Season is built different because it will be commemorating the end of the South Node in Virgo transit, which taught us that self sacrificial and non-reciprocal behavior is for the birds. Instead of going through the motions in our daily work and connections, it’s important to pause and reflect on the energy exchange being made. Our efforts should feel reciprocal, and the more mindful we become of our own need to “show up”, the more we’ll feel called to hold the people in our lives to the same standard.
Duty, service and responsibility is still the name of the game when dealing with Virgo energy. Now would be a good time to reflect on not just what you want to receive, but also what you can give in return. Think: Capacity. How can you stretch yours by creating better systems of care around your goals? Productivity is not just about the results. We’re being shown that the intention behind our process is just as important.
By the end of this month, expect to step into Libra Season with a newfound sense of clarity and self assurance. Especially if you use the next few weeks to prioritize introspection and self care. No more scarcity mindset, spreading yourself thin, or abandoning your own needs just to keep the peace. Send love to those old versions as you step into a more abundant state of mind.
Uranus Rx In Gemini: Scrapping The Script
Uranus stations retrograde on September 10th, the same day the New Moon in Virgo will take place at 18°. Since entering Gemini back on April 25th, Uranus has been pushing us to openly communicate, trust our instincts (especially with all the AI content running rampant), and get comfortable with having (and defending) our own opinions.
In many ways, this has forced us to advocate for our own voice to be heard as algorithms, censorship and the oversaturation of content continue to be an obstacle for creators trying to cut through the noise. It has also led many people going to outrageous lengths at an attempt to generate widespread discussion around whatever they‘re marketing. Hence: the highly sought after viral moment, trending topics, buzz words and more.
But instead of being overly calculated, Uranus in Gemini is pushing us to express ourselves more candidly and consistently. Don’t think of it as “content creation” or being “chronically online”. Instead, consider it an opportunity to increase your probability in being talked about by the right people. Embrace the notion that participating in these social games can lead to profound breakthroughs that help us become better attuned to the psychological patterns and social strategies that we as humans, naturally respond to.
Recognize that you are of, not outside of, the collective conscious. Ask more questions, create dialogue, share your two cents, but most importantly, accept where you may lack valuable insight or experience and be open to feedback from others.
Once Uranus stations retrograde we’ll feel inclined to turn inward and reflect on the “WHY?” behind what we feel compelled to share or not share with the world. What does it reflect about the narratives we live by, the ones we need to eliminate, and our innate desire to be understood? How can trusting our first mind and showing up unpolished empower others to do the same? Viewing your unique expression as a conduit for further connection and understanding, not something to shy away from, is the key to channeling your unique voice during this transit.
Virgo New Moon: The Diabolical Degree & Discernment
The New Moon in Virgo will help us make peace with what “went wrong” in the past and where a lack of follow through, foresight or consistency may have been our own demise. This Virgo Season is a chance to do things differently. You can’t go back (especially now that the South Node has officially moved into Leo!) but you can move forward and do your best with what you know now.
Not to alarm you, but this transit is definitely one to brace for because it will fall at 18°, a Virgo degree. This means we’ll be dealing with double Virgo energy, in a degree many astrologers refer to as the “diabolical degree.” It sounds scary because it has historically been associated with worldly disasters, health epidemics, freak accidents and corrupt leaders. Think: Charles Manson’s Venus, Pluto during 911, Mars during Chernobyl. Not fun.
But here’s a fun fact! I actually have my own Virgo moon at 18°. Happy Lunar Return to me! So far, I can’t say I’m not experiencing anything abnormal, but I’ll get back to you guys in a couple weeks. Being someone who has lived with their moon at 18°, I can assure you, I would not consider myself diabolical, corrupt or prone to freak accidents (aside from my house burning down that one time…). Although, I have had my fair share of health issues, depressive episodes and anxiety attacks.
So if anything, I would highly recommend taking care of your physical and mental health this month. Virgo being ruled by Mercury deals with the mind and our nervous system, while the Moon deals with our emotions and bodily cues. If you’re feeling sluggish, mentally foggy, irritable, or anxious, pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you about your need for further processing.
Though it often goes undiscussed, the Moon tends to naturally influence our daily habits and behaviors. Therefore, this New Moon in Virgo will shift our focus to personal matters surrounding healthy routines and rituals, better work life balance, refined systems of optimization, essential resources, consistent learning, and good health.
Any “diabolical” energy we might experience could manifest as unexpected obstacles and setbacks that force us to be more resourceful with our time and attention. New Moons expose us to insights that can inspire new ways of thinking and doing. With Virgo basically being the auditor of the zodiac, expect to come to some tough realizations about what will be required of you to sustain a certain lifestyle, status or state of mind. You could be shown that your usual approach is only leading to stagnancy, scarcity or suffering and that it’s time to make a major change.
Juno Rx Themes: Introspection, Independence & Investment
On September 16th, Juno will station direct at 25° Capricorn, an Aries degree, opposing Mars in Cancer. This could lead to ultimatums, endings, and many people taking space from a connection after realizing more healing or accountability is needed. I’m channeling the song “By Myself” by Coco Jones from my Lunar Lessons playlist, so the collective will be likely be dealing with themes of independence, solitude and self worth.
If you haven’t checked out the playlist yet, you can do so here on Spotify.
With this transit taking place on the Cancer-Capricorn axis, we’re being encouraged to come to terms with our emotional attachments to the past so we can begin building toward a more substantial future. Where Juno is involved our commitments, mutual interests, and requirements for a long term partnership will become the main focus. Look to the house you have Capricorn in to figure out what you should be asking from the people in your life right now.
Juno stationing direct in a Cardinal Earth sign means we’ll specifically be interested in relationships (all relationships, not just romantic) that show long term potential. Saturn cares about sustainability and wants to ensure that whatever we’re investing in holds value. Capricorn can relate to family, parents, authority figures, and power dynamics so these relationships may need to be re-examined in order to reach breakthroughs regarding our own needs and behaviors in partnership.
Initially, Juno began its retrograde in the sign of Aquarius, where it’s been since March and will remain until January of next year after returning from Capricorn. This will continue to establish ongoing themes surrounding community, friendship, advocacy and mutual exchange. One example of this, being the discussions that were inspired by the viral “You gotta swipe up and step up!” video. Which can also be seen as an expression of Uranus in Gemini, but I digress. At the end of the day, these Air sign transits are trying to get us talking. And just in time for Libra Season.
Being a lesser known asteroid, Juno isn’t spoken about as often as Venus or the Moon in discussions pertaining to partnership. Though, in my opinion, she should be. Juno has the power to predict how we collectively treat each other, relate to each other, and whether we feel inclined to connect or invest in one another.
In addition to the potential for marriage and romantic commitments, she reflects the ways we might persuade, seduce, and charm anyone into a mutual agreement. Whether that be your lover, your friends, your audience, your boss, and more. It may seem manipulative, but it’s social psychology 101.
Juno spending an extended period in Aquarius, a Fixed Air sign also traditionally ruled by Saturn, puts pressure on the need to build a reliable network of people who share our ideals and match our effort. At times, we may feel unsupported or misunderstood due to having specific needs and boundaries in our relationship.
For this reason, those with natal Juno in Aquarius may often prefer unconventional relationships that give room for individuality, while still managing to have defined roles. Think: Polyamory, lavender marriage, friends with benefits, etc.
Juno began it’s retrograde phase on June 5th in a conjunction to Pluto, so over these past few months we could have experienced moments of betrayal, true colors being revealed or moments where our own character was under attack. Pluto can relate to secrets, hidden energies, and things that are brought to light gradually over time. Over these past 6 months we may have realized that the people we thought had our back, do not. And the people we least expected, do.
With that being said, clear, consistent communication will be necessary to establish secure foundations and deeper connections moving forward. As Pluto makes its way through Aquarius, we will continue to be faced with lessons regarding the things we fail to see in others, and as a result, ourselves. This can be the good things too. The human things. The things that demand a time investment and objective observation. The things we shouldn’t blame ourselves for not having the ability to see before.
Which is why this Virgo season isn’t about busying ourselves with superficial plans or trying to keep up with appearances. We’re being asked to determine how we can carve out a place in the world that doesn’t require us to abandon ourselves in the process.
The day after Juno stations direct, a retrograde Chiron will move from Taurus back into Aries where it will remain until April 14th of next year. After spending nearly 8 years in Aries, Chiron returns to examine our wounds associated with identity and autonomy. Old patterns of social sabotage or self neglect may resurface during this transit to be addressed and resolved once and for all.
Venus Rx in Scorpio: Full Circle Feelings
The Venus retrograde on October 3rd will highlight matters of the heart and our deeper motivations. It starts in the sign of Scorpio at 5 degrees and will transition back into Libra before stationing direct. We entered the shadow phase on August 31st and may already be feeling some of the emotions that will attempt to resurface during this transit. It will be up to us to determine at we entertain.
I’ve been channeling so many messages for the collective about exes returning, redemption, second chances, and gaining wisdom from past mistakes. I think the next few months will show us where we can benefit from being a bit more vulnerable about our expectations and intentions. Reflecting on our unmet needs can help us pinpoint where we’re still shying away from chances to open up and build trust and reliability with the people in our lives.
Scorpio being ruled by Mars means this Venus retrograde could initially come with disruptions to our emotional body that warn us something might be “off”, missing, or going unaddressed. This could also be the reason many of us feel called to revisit the past before we can truly move forward. As the investigator of the zodiac, Scorpio is interested in gathering information. Although at times, their feelings can get in the way of their sharp judgement.
During this transit you may come to realize your emotional biases did not allow you to see a past situation clearly. Feelings of shame, resentment, denial or regret may have led to an inevitable fallout or misunderstanding. This Venus retrograde feels like an opportunity to make peace with whatever happened so you can finally move forward. For some this will look like letting go completely, while others will finally feel ready to do things right.
Finding healthier ways to advocate for our emotions will not only heal our relationships, it can also boost our self concept as we learn to challenge the negative assumptions that keep us in defense mode. Once Venus retrogrades back into Libra, we’ll start to see the benefits of being more earnest in our expression. Remember: To be known is to be seen. Drop the strategy and let people get to know the real you.
